Synchronize all your email addresses and ditch the insanity!!
(unless you enjoy frantic searching for scraps of paper with random passwords on them while swearing)
Syncing Yahoo mail with Outlook can be challenging. There are literally hundreds of posts out there addressing this, most with different instructions...I tried all the methods and they didn't work. But I kept at it and VIOLA! So here you go, I did the work and research so you don't have to.
IMPORTANT: If you aren't currently using Yahoo Business Mail or Yahoo Mail Plus STOP NOW.
And if you think you are just going to forward your free Yahoo mail account to another service such as Gmail, think again. Anticipating that users would do this, free Yahoo mail accounts also do not have forwarding capabilities.
Can't live without your Yahoo mail? Upgrade to Business Mail or Yahoo Mail Plus. It will cost ya, though. Yahoo Business mail is $2.91/month (for ONE custom address) and Yahoo Mail Plus is $19.95 annually.
But you probably already have a paid Yahoo account. That's why you're here. So let's move on, shall we?

User Information
Your Name: What you want to be displayed when you send an email. Use your first and last name or get creative.
Email Address: Your Yahoo Business email address. It should be @yourdomain.com. For example, mine is my first name @freezedrybycathy.com.
Server Information
Account Type: IMAP (drop down box, select IMAP)
Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com (type or copy this in exactly)
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com (type or copy this in exactly)
Logon Information
Username: The same (usually) as the one you just used above. So, your Yahoo Business email address
Password: Self explanatory. Your password associated with your Business mail exactly as you type it when you access your business mail through Yahoo.
Check the box next to Remember Password
UNcheck the box next to Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)
Wait, your not done! Click More Settings
This is kind of optional and doesn't affect the syncing process. You can choose to label this account however you would like. Recommended if you are going to be syncing many different email accounts in Outlook...it helps to label them to distinguish them from one another and stay organized.
6. Click on the Outgoing Server Tab
Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
Check the circle "Log on using"
Username: The owner username of the business email. This is important. For me, I don't own the business account...my email is just a sub email, for example if you had employees or you originally set up the business email under a regular Yahoo mail account before getting your domain email. If you are unsure, log into your business email account and click on your user account icon located near the top right of your screen. Do you see other emails associated with your business account? Which one did you use to originally sign up for the business account? Choose that one. I know this sounds confusing, but I found it was the only thing holding me back from syncing when I had tried nearly everything earlier. Basically, think of this username as the email address who is the owner and administrator of the business account...the master email.
Password: The password associated with the above email.
Check "remember password"
Do not check "require secure password Authentication (SPA)
8. There's more! Click the Advanced Tab....
Server Port Numbers
Incoming Server (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: drop down box, select SSL
Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: drop down box, select SSL
Server Timeouts: Adjust to around 4-5 minutes.
10. Click OK.
11. You will then be back at the POP and IMAP settings box. Click Next. Outlook will connect and send a test email. Once this is completed successfully you are good to go!
